Are you Eligible to Apply?

Initiative Eligibility

  • I have written a short film that has played at a recognised prestige festival
    OR
  • I have worked as narrative lead on a widely received digital game
    OR
  • I have written a web series of demonstrably high quality and audience reach
    OR
  • I have been credited as screenwriter on a commissioned television series or fully funded feature film
    OR
  • I have a long-form project (television series or feature film) currently under option/attachment with an established professional producer
    OR
  • I have significant experience in other industry roles (e.g directors, producers or development executives wishing to expand into writing)
    AND
  • I am available to attend all events and workshops as required by this initiative.
  • I am available to undertake the scope of work required by the initiative.

General Eligibility

  • I am a "Queensland Resident" having lived and worked in Queensland for at least six (6) months immediately preceding the application, with proof of such residency available if requested, to Screen Queensland's satisfaction, including by enrolment on the Queensland electoral roll, statutory declaration or other evidence such as utility bills.

  • I am not employed by a state or government screen agency.
  • I am not employed by a broadcaster.
  • I am not a full time student.
  • I do not have any projects in default with Screen Queensland.
  • I have an Australian Business Number (ABN)
  • It is important that your team of key creatives authentically represent the story and characters in your application. If your story includes content or characters from a diverse background, then at least one of the three key creative roles (writer, director, producer) must be held by a person who is representative of that diversity.
  • If this project is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander story, some or all intellectual property must be owned by members of this community and at least two of the three key creative roles must be held by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander talent. If the producer role is not held by an Indigenous person then an early career Indigenous producer attachment must be brought onto the project.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Story, Content and Characters

1. Does your script sample contain Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander story, content or characters? * Required

2. Does your project include any Indigenous heritage elements which include any of the following:

  • literary, performing and artistic works (including songs, music, dances, stories, ceremonies, symbols, languages and designs);
  • scientific, agricultural, technical and ecological knowledge (including cultigens, medicines and the phenotypes of flora and fauna);
  • all items of movable cultural property;
  • human remains and tissues;
  • immovable cultural property (including sacred and historically significant sites and burial grounds);
  • documentation of the Indigenous peoples' heritage in archives, film, photographs, videotape or audiotape and in all other forms of media.
